Some examples of my workMy figurative pieces are inspired by the beauty and movement of the human form and by ancient Greek sculptures and Roman wall paintings. I also love coastal landscapes and of course Bristol which is such an inspiring place to live. The wall pieces are painted with metal oxides and glazes and often fired multiple times to get the desired result. My sculptures are either glazed and fired to stoneware temperature or painted with a fine slip ‘terra sigillata’, and then fired in sawdust to create exciting and often unpredictable results.
I also make a range of porcelain vases, bowls, jugs and tea light holders as well as slip cast birds and sculptures. Recently I have been painting in acrylics and oils, many of which are now greeting cards available in shops around Bristol. I studied ceramics at Goldsmith's College, London and have been a potter in Bristol for over 20 years. |
